Fans rework Solskjaer's chant to welcome Sancho

Saturday 24 July 2021 15:59

It was announced on Saturday morning that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new Manchester United contract and, in the afternoon, fans bellowed out his famous chant as the Reds faced QPR.

Supporters were quick to salute the club legend and, smartly, the lyrics to ‘Ole’s at the Wheel’ were amended to celebrate our new signing from Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho.

The England international completed his “dream” move to Old Trafford on Friday afternoon and he is now looking forward to meeting his new team-mates, following his summer break.

Three are referenced in ‘Ole’s at the Wheel’, with these new lyrics: “Ole’s at the wheel, tell me how good does it feel. We’ve got Sancho, Paul Pogba and Fred. Marcus Rashford is Manc born and bred!”
Sancho is recharging his batteries on holiday and therefore was not involved in Saturday’s friendly match against QPR, although the exciting forward is looking forward to getting started as a Red.

In our big interview to celebrate his transfer, the 21-year-old admitted he has already felt the love from our supporters on social media and cannot wait to see them in the flesh at Old Trafford.

“It feels very nice,” Jadon explained with a smile. “To have the fans by my side is always a great feeling, especially when you come to a new club, because you need to feel comfortable straight away, and I’m sure the fans will give me that feeling.”
Asked about that opening match of the Premier League season, against Leeds United on 14 August, Sancho told us: “I’m excited for the new season, especially as the first game is at home. That’s always a confidence booster – to be in front of your own fans – so it will be nice.”
