Garnacho nominated for Goal of the Month

Alejandro Garnacho's amazing overhead kick against Everton has unsurprisingly been included on the Premier League's Goal of the Month shortlist for November.

Erik ten Hag’s men went unbeaten throughout the month in the league, with wins against Fulham and Luton prefacing a commanding 3-0 victory at Goodison Park, and Harry Maguire and Ten Hag himself have also been nominated for prizes.

Garnacho unleashed a goal on Merseyside that will long be talked about as one of the greats and, with shades of Wayne Rooney's similarly eye-catching effort against Manchester City at Old Trafford 12 years ago, the teenager's acrobatic finish is a more-than-worthy contender for November's award.

Watch Alejandro Garnacho’s Goal-of-the-Season contender again and again and again – you know you want to…

Just nine days after being on the receiving end of a 10-point deduction from the Premier League, Everton supporters conjured a rather unwelcoming atmosphere at their Goodison home, but they would be silenced almost immediately.

Three minutes into the game, Diogo Dalot stood the ball up to the back post where Garnacho adjusted his positioning slightly, before executing an astonishing overhead kick that sailed into the top corner of Jordan Pickford’s goal.

Marcus Rashford scored from the spot before Anthony Martial sealed the win late on, in the midst of Kobbie Mainoo's impressive full Premier League debut, but it was Alejandro who stole the headlines.

He is aiming to become the second Red to win the award this season, after Bruno Fernandes was acclaimed for his volley at Burnley.

Seven other strikes have also made it on to the list, courtesy of Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United), Cameron Archer (Sheffield United), Pablo Sarabia (Wolves), Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal), Simon Adingra (Brighton), Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) and Michael Olise (Cyrstal Palace), but we reckon Garnacho has a very good chance of coming out on top.
