Sancho wins United's August Goal of the Month award

Sunday 04 September 2022 12:00

Jadon Sancho's strike against our arch-rivals Liverpool has been voted as Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for August.

Twisting and turning inside the penalty area before firing past Alisson, Jadon opened his account for the season in superb fashion, as the Reds ran out 2-1 winners over Jurgen Klopp's side.

Claiming a whopping 67 percent of the vote, the winger overcame competition from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford to claim our the first Goal of the Month accolade of the 2022/23 campaign.

Enjoy Sancho's award-winning effort in all its glory here.

Seizing on a square pass from Anthony Elanga in the build-up, Jadon did not let the occasion swallow him up one bit, taking a cool and calm approach before placing the ball home to hand United a deserved lead.

The goal would prove to be highly significant for Erik ten Hag's side, as United ran out 2-1 winners on the evening and ensured our first Premier League points of the season, with Sancho's strike a key moment in a superb team performance.

Fernandes's fine finish against the Saints was the runner-up in our official poll with 16 per cent of the vote, whilst Rashford's effort in front of the Stretford End versus Liverpool came in third spot and claimed eight per cent.

Sancho's award-winning goal appears to be pivotal in our season so far, as Ten Hag's men have since recorded three consecutive victories and will hope to continue our recent form, against Arsenal, later today.

Congratulations to Jadon and thank you to everyone who voted.
