Ronaldo completes October awards double
The votes are in and Manchester United's Goal of the Month for October 2021 can now be confirmed.
We selected 13 excellent strikes scored across games for our various sides, with nine different players represented in the poll.
Every nominated effort garnered at least one per cent of the vote, but there were three clear standouts.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 81st-minute header against Atalanta, with the Portuguese star leaping to meet Luke Shaw's cross and complete a remarkable turnaround, finished third on 12 per cent.
Further ahead, with over a quarter of the nominations was Mason Greenwood's spectacular goal at Leicester. Although it turned out not to be United's day in the East Midlands, the way in which our no.11 cut inside on his left and fired the ball beyond Kasper Schmeichel and into the top corner won't be forgotten in a hurry.
But the winner of October's award looms larger in the memory, having been scored in our final game of the month, the superb 3-0 away victory at Tottenham Hotspur.
Although Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford both finished with aplomb in north London, it was Ronaldo's first-half volley which caught your eye.
Users of the Official App and ManUtd.com voted for Cristiano's strike - assisted by, who else, Bruno Fernandes - in their droves, with our no.7 receiving 45 per cent of the overall tally.
And it means the awards keep piling up for CR7 after his dramatic summer transfer. The forward has completed a Player and Goal of the Month double for October, after also claiming the former prize in September.
