How you can help to keep social media safe
At Manchester United, we want a positive, inclusive and safe online environment for our supporters, players and staff.
Our Social Media Code exists to ensure everyone understands what is acceptable and what is potentially harmful when engaging with the club online.
In September, over 197,000 posts on club channels were identified as being unacceptable and automatically removed through the use of AI technology.
As part of our ongoing work to tackle discrimination, the Social Media Code provides guidance on what will not be accepted by the club as well as demonstrating the proactive role fans can play to keep social media a safe place for everyone.

There is no room for racism
ArticleThe Premier League and Manchester United are taking action to tackle all forms of discrimination.
The club regularly monitors all its social media channels for discriminatory or hateful comments and messages, proactively dealing with those that contravene or breach the policy.
This may include removing posts, blocking users, and, in some instances, reporting cases to the relevant authorities. Where we can identify individuals, the club may also issue its own sanctions.
Fans can also play a proactive role in keeping social media a safe place for the wider football community. If you see posts with discriminatory or toxic language, you can report these to the Premier League or via our online reporting.

While we understand football is an emotive game and tensions can run high, we are clear on our commitment to preventing abusive and/or discriminatory behaviour on social media.
Promotion of our Social Media Code coincides with the Premier League’s No Room for Racism campaign.
Our game against Brighton on Saturday is dedicated to No Room for Racism to highlight the importance of diversity and remind fans that discrimination has no place in our game.
We invite our fans to read the Social Media Code to learn more.
