Diogo Dalot and Fred were confirmed as new arrivals in June. Defender Dalot sealed a switch from FC Porto, while the move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred was finalised once his work permit and international clearance was received.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant became the third signing of the close season when sealing a transfer from Stoke City.
On the outgoing front, seven players were initially released from the Reserves squad with one of them, Joe Riley, already fixed up with new employers. The full-back has agreed to join League One side Bradford City. Sam Johnstone secured a switch to West Brom after a fee was agreed with the Baggies, following his time on loan at Aston Villa.
Under-23s forward Indy Boonen has also left after signing for Oostende in his native Belgium, while Dean Henderson is the first of the loan exits as he is heading to Sheffield United.
