McNeill joins Newport on loan
Manchester United forward Charlie McNeill has joined League Two side Newport County on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
The 19-year-old will gain senior experience with the South Wales club, who currently sit 19th in the table under manager Graham Coughlan.
McNeill was an important member of United’s FA Youth Cup-winning side last season, with the Droylsden-born striker scoring five times across six starts in the competition for the young Reds, including twice in the semi-final victory over Wolves at Old Trafford.

He became the first Academy player to make a senior debut under Erik ten Hag in September 2022, replacing Tyrell Malacia for the closing stages of the 1-0 Europa League defeat to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.
McNeill was also involved in the Spain winter training camp with Ten Hag’s squad, playing 45 minutes in the friendly against Cadiz, although the majority of his football this term has come with the Under-21s.
He netted three goals in the group stage of the Papa Johns Trophy, as United progressed to the third round for the first time.
Our teenage forward has also been a regular at Premier League 2 level, playing 12 times and scoring in a big game against Liverpool, and his most recent outing saw him bag a brace during the Premier League International Cup win over Feyenoord at Carrington.
