Manchester United's international players are now back at the club's Carrington training ground to prepare for the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

Familiar faces such as club captain Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes arrived on Saturday morning and were full of smiles as the Reds prepare to embark on an exciting second season under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.

The players were granted extra time off after representing their respective nations in European Championship qualifiers and friendlies in June and are now back and ready to get to work ahead of the Reds' second pre-season fixture - the clash against Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday 19 July (14:00 BST).

Our international players have arrived back at Carrington for the start of pre-season preparations...

A host of other players who had been away with their international sides were back at base too, as was Fred, who missed the 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo on Wednesday due to managing his workload.

The returnees link up with the portion of Ten Hag's squad that were back in training last week and played in that victory over our historic rivals on Wednesday.

It is also the first time for many of them to meet our latest signing, Mason Mount.

Despite being back, however, the boss explained after our first pre-season friendly that Wednesday's clash with Lyon in Edinburgh may come too soon for many of Saturday's returnees.

"Those players, most of them will not show up in Edinburgh, as well, because they need time and to have a good training week," he said.

"They had to have days off and relaxation.

"Those players played most games in the last season, so they needed that rest."
