International Reds back in training at Carrington

Manchester United's international players were back at Carrington on Thursday, taking part in a recovery session as preparation continues for Sunday's resumption of Premier League action at Newcastle United.

Twelve of those away representing their countries were spotted by our cameras, after their exertions in European Championship qualifiers and friendlies.

Marcel Sabitzer was present, which is hopefully good news, as Austria left him on the bench for the second of their games, a 2-1 win over Estonia. The midfielder had been Man of the Match when scoring twice, as captain, in a 4-1 victory against Azerbaijan.

Harry Maguire also joined in, as did his England team-mate Luke Shaw, who had an enforced rest for the Three Lions' 2-0 win against Ukraine after being sent off during the 2-1 triumph in Italy.

Marcus Rashford, of course, was forced to withdraw from Gareth Southgate's squad but did return to light training at our base earlier this week.

Portugal pair Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes, our newly crowned Player of the Month, were there too, alongside Dutch duo Tyrell Malacia and Wout Weghorst.

Brazil winger Antony attended the session, and will hopefully be in contention to play at St James' Park this weekend, as will a fellow South American, Lisandro Martinez. The Argentinian defender came on at half-time in the World Cup winners' 2-0 victory over Panama but was then an unused substitute for their 7-0 thrashing of Curacao.

Another centre-back, Victor Lindelof, resumed work with the Reds after his stint captaining Sweden. Other players involved in the session included young Iraq international Zidane Iqbal and England Under-19s midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Erik ten Hag is likely to be asked about the availability and fitness of his players when he holds his pre-match press conference on Friday. You can watch it in full on MUTV, ManUtd.com and the United App from 13:30 BST.
