Ten Hag: Rashford is really important for us

Erik ten Hag says that Marcus Rashford will stay at Manchester United, despite press speculation about his future.

Some stories in the media have suggested that other clubs might be interested in the 24-year-old, who has scored 93 goals in 304 games for his boyhood club.

But the Dutchman was quick to play down the gossip, when he met with journalists before Saturday's Premier League match with Brentford.

“He is really important,” stressed Erik.

“You have seen from the first day I'm in [the club], I've been really pleased [with him].

“Definitely, I don't want to lose him. He's in our plans and he will stay at Manchester United.”
Rashford started the majority of our pre-season games, and played the entirety of last Sunday's Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag stated that he was 'happy' with the club's ongoing work in the transfer market, as we look to strengthen the squad for the rest of the 2022/23 season.

“I'm happy, I think we're cooperating really well,” he explained. “I cannot tell about any individuals because I cannot talk about players who are under contract with other clubs.”

The summer transfer window closes on Thursday 1 September at 23:00 BST.
