Confirmed: Andreas leaves United for loan spell
Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira will spend the season on loan at Flamengo in his native Brazil.
The Academy graduate has made 75 appearances for the club so far and scored four goals across all competitions, including our Goal of the Season for 2018/19.
Andreas has previously spent two seasons on loan in Spain: the 2016/17 season at Granada and then the 2017/18 campaign with Valencia. Last term, he gained more experience with a temporary spell in Italy with Lazio.
Our former youth-team player returned to the club in the summer and performed well throughout pre-season.
Andreas netted a stunning goal in the friendly against Brentford at Old Trafford, highlighting his undoubted ability in the attacking third.
With so much competition for places at Old Trafford, particularly in the forward positions, the decision was taken for Andreas to join Flamengo this season.
The Rio de Janeiro club lifted the Brazilian Serie A trophy in 2019 and 2020 and are bidding to win a second Copa Libertadores title in three years.
Everybody at United wishes him well for the campaign ahead.
