Garnacho thanks Ten Hag for his opportunity

Alejandro Garnacho has expressed his gratitude to Erik ten Hag for giving him the chance to shine for Manchester United this term.

The teenager earned his way into the manager's plans before the break for the World Cup, scoring his first senior goal in the Europa League victory at Real Sociedad and capping a fine spell with the dramatic injury-time winner at Fulham in the final Premier League fixture.

It was no surprise when the left-winger was named our Player of the Month for November and he spoke to us when picking up his award at Carrington last week.

POTM interview, part two | Alejandro Garnacho discusses the influence of our Academy and Erik ten Hag in his ascent…

"Erik Ten Hag is a very good manager and, above all, he’s a great person," Garnacho told club media's Joe Ganley. "He always pays very close attention to us all, and helps us a great deal, especially the young players.

"I've had to keep working hard until that moment came where I was given my opportunity. For the moment, I’m making the most of the opportunities he’s giving me.

"I don’t want to take a backward step from here, I’d like to appear regularly in the team and keep going in the same way."

Garnacho will be out to make the most of spending time with the Reds while the tournament unfolds in Qatar, as the team have two friendlies lined up in Spain, where he was born, against Cadiz and Real Betis next month.

Tickets are still available for these games, which will be shown live on MUTV.

All United fans will have 21 December circled in their diaries as that is when we are next in domestic action, hosting Burnley in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

It will be interesting to see if the Argentina Under-20 international starts against Vincent Kompany's men and can resume from where left off in terms of his stunning performances.
