Confirmed: United's full pre-season schedule

Tuesday 14 June 2022 09:00

Manchester United’s full pre-season schedule ahead of the 2022/23 campaign has now been confirmed.

The Reds will play six games in 20 days, across four different countries, as we seek the best preparation possible for next term, under new manager Erik ten Hag.

It’s our most action-packed pre-season schedule since 2019, with the summers of 2020 and 2021 seeing us play just one and four friendlies respectively, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tour 2022 will begin with United jetting away to Thailand, where we’ll take on arch-rivals Liverpool in Ten Hag’s very first match in charge on Tuesday 12 July. What a way to start!

United's return to action is now just 30 days away, with the opening Tour 2022 match due to be played on 12 July.

Then comes the Australia leg of the tour and consecutive matches at the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground – a stadium which can accommodate an incredible 100,000 people!

A-League runners-up Melbourne Victory will be the opposition on Friday 15 July while four days later, on Tuesday 19 July, we’ll face Crystal Palace.

Another Premier League foe in Aston Villa are on the fixture list for Saturday 23 July, at Perth’s Optus Stadium, a venue we played twice at on our last pre-season tour abroad, three years ago.

That match against Steven Gerrard’s side concludes our Thailand and Australia tour, but there are still two fixtures remaining back in Europe before the Premier League gets under way on the first weekend of August.

Our European conquerors from 2021/22, Atletico Madrid, are sure to be tough opponents in Oslo, where we’ll play in front of our passionate Norwegian fans at the Ullevaal Stadium.

And the following day, you can see Ten Hag in charge in the famous Old Trafford dugout for the very first time, as we host La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

Tickets for that one are available now, with 10 per cent of profits going to the Manchester United Foundation.

Tour 2022 tickets can be purchased here but if you can’t make it to the games, don’t worry, as every game will be broadcast live on MUTV*, ManUtd.com and the Manchester United App.

*MUTV live coverage not available in Thailand and Australia due to domestic broadcast rights.
