United train before Sheriff visit

Manchester United’s players were pictured training at Carrington on Tuesday morning, ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol.

Our Old Trafford meeting with the Moldovan side could see us secure progress from Group E, with only a point required to eliminate the visitors from contention.

Of course, Erik ten Hag and his men are fully focused on claiming a fourth consecutive continental victory, as we seek to overhaul Real Sociedad at the top of the pool.

Teams finishing in first place in the Europa League groups go straight through to the round of 16, while runners-up have to negotiate a two-legged play-off against a team dropping out of the Champions League.

We're currently three points behind the San Sebastian outfit, with next Thursday's clash in Spain a potential group decider.

We have been provided with a boost ahead of the Sheriff fixture, as our photographers have captured a number of returning Reds in action with the rest of their team-mates.

Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all joined the group as they continue their recoveries from injury.

Maguire hasn’t featured since mid-September’s 2-0 victory over Sheriff in Chisinau, with a thigh problem picked up while playing for England keeping him on the sidelines so far in October.

Van de Beek and Wan-Bissaka have been out for longer, with the pair last appearing for the first team in the closing stages of our 2-1 victory over Liverpool in August.

Cristiano Ronaldo also returned to group training, after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Erik ten Hag is expected to give a team news update in Wednesday's pre-match press conference, which begins at 12:00 BST.

France pair Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane are United's main injury concerns.

Varane pulled up early in the second half at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, while Martial has not appeared since 9 October, when he departed our 2-1 win over Everton.
