Reds back at Carrington after friendly win

Manchester United's squad have returned to training at Carrington, after the friendly victory over Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side beat the Clarets 3-1 in the behind-closed-doors fixture, thanks to goals from Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard - available once more after recovering from COVID-19 - and Fred.

The trio were among the group captured by our photographers during today's session and they were joined by Jadon Sancho, who made his United debut on Saturday and was also involved against Sean Dyche's side.

He will hope to feature from the start on Sunday, when the Reds travel to the south coast to take on Southampton.

Another Red supporters will be keen to see in action is Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman didn't play in the Burnley friendly but has been involved in each of the last two training sessions after memorably being unveiled as a United player on the pitch at Old Trafford at the weekend, before the 5-1 win over Leeds which ensured we finished matchday 1 of the Premier League on top of the table.

Edinson Cavani recently returned to the country following his summer break, but was not pictured in the session.

However, our cameras did catch young forward D'Mani Mellor with the main group, an encouraging sign following the 20-year-old's recent injury issues.

Mellor, who made his first-team debut in Astana in November 2019, missed the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign with a knee problem but signed a new contract over the summer and scored our first Premier League 2 goal of the campaign, in the 2-2 draw with Leicester City at Leigh Sports Village.

Anthony Elanga was also pictured back training after an impressive pre-season.

The forward scored against QPR and Brentford, but missed out on the Everton and Leeds games through injury.
