United players warm up at Old Trafford

Late change to United squad

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has made four changes to his side to face Fulham at Old Trafford from the XI that started Wednesday’s 2-2 home draw with Arsenal.

There was also a late change to the substitutes' bench as Luke Shaw was forced to withdraw after initially being named as one of the seven players on standby. Andreas Pereira took his spot.

French striker Anthony Martial, who scored the Reds' first equaliser against the Gunners in midweek, is missing with injury after being forced off during the second half with a suspected hamstring problem.

Martial’s place in the attack is taken by Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian scored against Southampton two games ago and came off the bench against Arsenal, as Mourinho insists Lukaku won’t be put under pressure.

Music to his ears as Romelu Lukaku starts against Fulham

“Normally, people say that striker’s lives are about goals. I agree and I disagree. I prefer to focus on why I disagree and not to put pressure on him to score goals.

"You can be happy even if you are not scoring goals,” Jose said.

Ashley Young is back to skipper United after sitting out the Wednesday draw due to a one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards this season. Juan Mata returns to the line up for his first start since the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace and Phil Jones replaces Marcos Rojo in the centre of defence alongside Chris Smalling.

United: De Gea; Dalot, Jones, Smalling, Young (c); Herrera, Matic; Mata, Lingard, Rashford; Lukaku.

Subs: Romero, Rojo, Shaw, Fellaini, Fred, McTominay, Pogba.
