United side to face Leicester announced

Saturday 02 April 2022 16:30

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has named his Manchester United side to take on Leicester City.

The big news is there is no Cristiano Ronaldo in the Reds' matchday squad and the leading scorer's absence could mean his fellow Portugal international Bruno Fernandes operating as a 'false nine'.

Luke Shaw is back in defence, Paul Pogba starts in midfield and Anthony Elanga gets another chance to impress from the first whistle.

We sat down with the boss to preview today's match against Leicester City and talk about Bruno, the World Cup and subs.

There is an obvious question about which formation the boss will employ, but 4-3-3 would appear to be favourite, with Elanga and in-form Jadon Sancho offering the width.

Harry Maguire captains the team against his former club and Marcus Rashford is among the substitutes, after scoring in the corresponding fixture with the Foxes.

United: De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred, Pogba; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho.

Substitutes: Henderson, Jones, Lindelof, Telles, Wan-Bissaka, Mata, Matic, Lingard, Rashford.
