Reds' huge following in sell-out crowd
It has been a long wait but Manchester United's vocal travelling fans will be roaring the Reds on in the Emirates FA Cup tonight (Monday, 20:15 GMT kick-off).
Our last away game with a full complement of supporters in this competition was back in the fifth round in March 2020, against Derby County, when Odion Ighalo scored twice in a 3-0 victory.
Of course, we had two visits to Wembley in last season's tournament but there is something special about a visit to a lower league ground, in particular, for those who follow the team over land and sea.
The tie with League One side Wigan Athletic, at the DW Stadium and live on ITV1 in the UK, presents a perfect opportunity to show the importance of the FA Cup and get behind Erik ten Hag and his team in a first outing of 2024.
United in the hat for FA Cup draw
ArticleThe Reds will find out our potential fourth-round tie before Monday’s meeting with Wigan Athletic.
United have reported that our final, total application for the clash is 7,334 tickets, meaning there will be vociferous support for the Reds.
Wigan have confirmed the tie is a sell out and the attendance of over 22,500 will represent the club's biggest crowd at their home since they were in the Premier League, back in 2012/13.
Wigan's players will be wearing special warm-up shirts showing their support for Under-18s captain Callum Jones, ahead of kick-off.
The youngster is to undergo another round of chemotherapy treatment on Wednesday, after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and we would also like to pass on our own sincere best wishes to Callum.
