What to expect at United this Black History Month
Equal representation is at the heart of Manchester United.
Whether that be the players on the pitch, the staff at Old Trafford and our training ground or our global fanbase, it is pivotal that we celebrate where we came from and those who paved the way for current generations.
Throughout October 2024, we will mark Black History Month by celebrating key figures from our history and reclaiming the narratives by shining a light on the untold stories of our past.
Avelino talks Black History Month
Here's a snippet of what the award-winning artist Avelino had to say to us about BHM...
We have talked to many Reds over the years about what Black History Month means to them, with former strikers Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke and United Women full-back Gabby George among those to share their experiences.
Award-winning musician - and United fan - Avelino sat down with us last year as well to discuss the significance the month holds outside of football.
Black history and heritage is ingrained in the club's past and present, and will certainly be a part of our future too.
Across October, you can expect to see interesting and insightful content across our platforms which highlight those who have perhaps not got the credit they deserved in the past - our unsung heroes.
We endeavour to educate our fanbase on the experience of those in the Black community, with the ambition of shining more light on the significance of this strand of United's culture.
