United train before FC Copenhagen clash

The Manchester United squad trained in front of the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag, as well as European media, on Monday at Carrington.

The Reds are preparing for our third game in Group A of this season's UEFA Champions League, against FC Copenhagen, and a positive result is needed following defeats to Bayern Munich (4-3) and Galatasaray (3-2) in the opening two fixtures.

Ten Hag confirmed in his press conference at Carrington that Sergio Reguilon needed to be assessed in training, after the Spaniard missed Saturday's 2-1 win at Bramall Lane due to illness.

“Today he will train and then we have to assess if he is ready and game fit or if he can be involved in the squad,” said the manager. “We have to wait for that.”

Our on-loan left-back was present at the session, while Casemiro was there with the rest of the squad too.

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on a Reds defender before our crucial European tie.

The Brazilian cannot play at Old Trafford on Tuesday, due to suspension. He was sent off for receiving two yellow cards in the defeat to Galatasaray three weeks ago.

His inclusion in the session is encouraging, however, as we also look forward to Sunday's Manchester derby.

Casemiro was absent for our trip to South Yorkshire, having remained in South America to recover from a knock he picked up during Brazil's friendly draw with Venezuela.

There was another positive development, as Tyrell Malacia was seen training individually, away from the first-team group.

The Netherlands international hasn't featured yet in 2023/24 due to injury, after making 39 appearances during his debut campaign.

Malacia's issue, combined with problems for Reguilon and Luke Shaw, means Ten Hag has had to call upon five different players at left-back this season, with Sofyan Amrabat, Diogo Dalot and, most recently, Victor Lindelof, having to fill in there.
