Manchester United got down to work in New Jersey on Thursday, a day after arriving in the United States for pre-season tour.

Just over 24 hours after the 1-0 win over Lyon in Edinburgh, the 31-man squad appeared at base in the Garden State, where we will play Arsenal on Saturday.

The friendly with the Gunners is the first of four games facing Erik ten Hag and his side between now and the end of July.

Each member of the travelling group was involved in the workout on what was a hot and humid afternoon in New Jersey, with the temparature close to 30 degrees - more than what the players have been used to over the summer so far in Manchester, Oslo and Edinburgh.

While the session was underway, the signing of Andre Onana from Internazionale was announced, with the goalkeeper joining on a five-year deal with an option of a further year.

“He is already one of the world’s best goalkeepers and at the age of 27 we firmly believe that he can develop even further over the coming years,” said football director John Murtaugh in the signing statement.

Onana, who it has been announced will wear the no.24 for the Reds, will no doubt be eager to join up with his new team-mates soon.

Following the Arsenal clash, United face Wrexham in San Diego on 25 July and Real Madrid in Houston the following day.

Tour 2023 then ends with a mouthwatering game against Borussia Dortmund on 30 July.
