Mason Greenwood and James Garner take part in first-team training session

Youngsters train with Jose's squad

Manchester United trained in front of the cameras on Tuesday before flying to Spain for the final Champions League Group H game against Valencia.

Jose Mourinho kept a watchful eye on proceedings as, with qualification assured, he ponders how to strike the right balance ahead of the weekend blockbuster clash with Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

Under-19 stars James Garner and Mason Greenwood worked with the main group and it will be interesting to see if they are kept with the senior party. Garner, who usually operates in midfield but performed excellently at centre-back in the Under-18s' 3-0 win over Chelsea last time out, does not turn 18 until March. Striker Greenwood top scored for the Under-18s last season as a schoolboy and is leading the way in the goal charts again, while also netting on his Under-23s debut against Wolves recently.

Both were part of the squad on Tour 2018 presented by Aon in the United States and represent England at Under-18 level.

Greenwood, Garner and Aliou Traore celebrate a goal for United's Under-19s.

Defenders Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof were not spotted at the Aon Training Complex, while Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez were also absent. However, no squad news will be confirmed until Jose addresses the press later on Tuesday.

The manager has already suggested there will be opportunities for Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay to feature against Valencia, with places up for grabs ahead of the Liverpool match on Sunday.
