Hugill named Premier League 2 Player of the Month

Manchester United Under-21s striker Joe Hugill has been named as Premier League 2’s Player of the Month for January.

Hugill was in great form across the month, scoring five goals in just four fixtures in the division.

The young Reds won all four matches, beating Fulham, Liverpool, West Ham and Blackburn, making further progress despite many of the players at Mark Dempsey’s disposal playing years above their age.

Hugill started January by scoring the winning goal in our 2-1 away victory at Fulham, and notched a brace against rivals Liverpool eight days later.

He scored another two goals in the young Reds’ next fixture, as United came from two behind away to West Ham to emerge 3-2 winners.

Hugill beat out competition from Southampton’s Dominic Ballard, Manchester City trio Carlos Borges, Adedire Mebude and Mikki Van Sas, and West Ham’s Divin Mubama on the eight-man shortlist to be crowned the Player of the Month for January.

Well done, Joe!
