Under-18s in live FA Youth Cup action

Tuesday 16 January 2024 08:00

Manchester United are back on the FA Youth Cup trail on Tuesday night, with a fourth-round tie taking place against Swindon Town.

The County Ground hosts the 19:00 GMT kick-off and the match is being shown live on MUTV and the United App for viewers in the UK and Ireland.

Adam Lawrence's side reached this stage with a 1-0 victory over Derby County at Old Trafford last month. Ethan Williams, who opened the scoring in the team's most recent outing, Saturday's 3-1 win at Newcastle United, grabbed the only goal of the game.

Ashton Missin and Jayce Fitzgerald also found the net at the weekend, as we stretched our 100 per cent record in the Under-18 Premier League North to 11 games this season.

There is competition for places in the side that will represent the Reds in Wiltshire, as we look to set up a fifth-round tie away to either Gillingham or Sunderland. Those two sides were due to meet in Kent on Tuesday night but the game has been postponed and moved to 23 January.

Swindon, coached by Sean Wood, are hoping for a bumper crowd to watch the tie, which must be decided on the night. Extra-time and penalties are scheduled, if required, should the teams be level.

The Robins reached this round with a superb 2-0 away triumph at Luton Town.

Look out for the MUTV coverage on the night, which features Stewart Gardner and Ben Thornley on commentating duty, with Mark Sullivan and Danny Simpson due to be in the studio at Old Trafford.
