Manchester United Women have triggered a one-year option on Nikita Parris's contract, which will keep the forward at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The England international joined the Reds from Arsenal in the summer of 2022, and made a huge contribution in her maiden season at Leigh Sports Village, as Marc Skinner's team secured Champions League qualification for the first time in the club's history.

In 2023/24, Parris scored 16 times in 30 appearances across all competitions, including three during our successful drive towards the Adobe Women's FA Cup final, where we beat Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 to lift major silverware for the first time.

Now Parris has the chance to build on last season's highs, as part of Marc Skinner's squad for the upcoming campaign.

The news provides United Women with a further boost ahead of 2024/25, and follows hot on the heels of our third major signing of the summer transfer window: the arrival of Norwegian centre-forward Elisabeth Terland.

Parris has already proven a popular figure with our passionate fanbase, and was twice (November, February) voted Player of the Month during the last season, thanks to a raft of goals and assists.

During a particularly hot goalscoring spell in late January, head coach Marc Skinner spoke publicly about the qualities that the Merseysider brings to the squad.

“Nikita said to me when she first came in that she wanted to play with a fire in her belly and it was going to take time," he explained.

"I think she is performing that way perfectly... She’s one of the top scorers, she is on fire at the minute and credit to her, she’s a real leader in the team."

Everyone at the club looks forward to watching Nikita in action next season and wishes her all the best for the coming campaign.
