United Women await 2023/24 fixtures
Manchester United Women's first opponents of the new 2023/24 season will be confirmed at 10:00 BST tomorrow (Tuesday), when the Women's Super League fixtures are released.
We already know that the season will begin later due to the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which kicks off this Thursday and could involve as many as eight United players.
Katie Zelem is one of three Reds in the England squad, for example, with Mary Earps and Ella Toone also selected by head coach Sarina Wiegman.
The trio's club colleague Maya Le Tissier has also been training with the Lionesses as one of two players on standby, in case there are any injuries prior to their first game against Haiti on 22 July.
The league campaign will close on Saturday 18 or Sunday 19 May 2024. In between those dates, the Reds will again play 11 other sides home and away, with the natural objective of building on our highest-ever placing for the club.
Marc Skinner steered his side into the runners-up spot after seriously challenging the eventual title-winners Chelsea in an enthralling race. Finishing in the top three last term also ensured the Reds will enter the Women's Champions League for the very first time, beginning with a second-round tie in October.
Bristol City have replaced Reading on the list of teams we'll face in the WSL, after winning the Championship in 2022/23. Meanwhile, the Royals were relegated from the top flight after a seven-year stay, when they lost to Chelsea on the final day of the season.
