Provisional plans in place for fans' return to Leigh Sports Village

Friday 11 December 2020 18:30

Provisional plans have been announced for the return of fans to Leigh Sports Village for Manchester United Women games, once given the go-ahead to do so.

This follows the recent announcement from the UK Government, as part of its COVID-19 Winter Plan, that clubs based in Tier 1 and 2 categories of restrictions will be able to reopen to fans with reduced capacities.

Manchester United Women are scheduled to play Bristol City at Leigh Sports Village on 20 December. While home games currently remain behind closed doors due to the Tier 3 restrictions in place for Greater Manchester, the next Government review of regional restrictions is planned for the week leading up to this fixture.

This means there is a possibility that fans may be able to attend the game if Greater Manchester (or Wigan) is moved into Tier 2, and approval is given by the local authorities.

For matches with 2,000 supporters, tickets will be priced at £6 for adults and £3 for under 16s and over 65s. All general admission tickets will be split across sections of the stadium, and fans will be allocated a specific seat number. Wheelchair positions will also be available in the West Stand.

Tickets will be allocated to MU Women Season-Ticket Holders and Manchester United Official Members, and a random ballot will be held for the Bristol City game. Applications from MU Women Season-Ticket Holders for that provisional ballot will be accepted from those who held a ticket during the 2019/20 season. Full details have been sent directly to all eligible fans. International and inter-tier travel restrictions will apply.

A proportional number of tickets will be allocated in line with contractual and FA requirements. As per the national guidance, away fans will not be in attendance.

Fans who apply will be asked to agree to a new Leigh Sports Village Code of Conduct, which encourages respectful behaviour and social distancing, and includes the practical rules that will be applied at the stadium to ensure the safest possible environment for everyone.

All relevant information for supporters of the women’s team will be hosted on www.manutd.com/reunited/MU-Women.
