Guerrero: I want to repay United fans' faith
Manchester United Women midfielder Irene Guerrero admits she has been surprised by the sheer level of support the Reds receive, since joining the club in the summer.
Despite admittedly already knowing how well-followed Marc Skinner’s side are, both home and away, Irene still says she has been taken aback by the love from the stands while on the pitch.
Speaking upon visiting the TeamViewer diary room, the Spaniard describes what our fans already mean to her and how she is determined to help repay that advocacy with good results.
TeamViewer Diaries: Irene Guerrero
TeamViewer Diaries | Irene Guerrero talks fan support, being a member of the United family and winning the World Cup...
“I’ve been really surprised. I’d seen it from home in a few games all the support the team got, but to feel their support out on the pitch makes it even more special because they never give up on you,” Guerrero says, in a new episode of TeamViewer Diaries.
“I was really surprised at our first away game, in Birmingham against Aston Villa, to see how many fans were there supporting us.
“I think they’re crucial to us winning games because when you’re out on your feet and you see them all cheering you on, you try to dig that bit deeper to give them the win.
“The support I’ve been getting from the fans has been very positive and I hope I can repay their faith in me with results on the pitch.”
A 2023 World Cup winner with Spain, Irene will be pleased to be back and be able to properly embark on the targets that she sets out during her diary-room visit.
“Of course I joined this family, this great club, United, to win trophies together and celebrate winning games,” our no.8 expresses.
“That’s what us players dream of, getting out of our comfort zones to break boundaries and achieve new goals.
“We’re all here to help the team achieve the success we all want.”
