Internationals: Le Tissier earns first senior England call-up
Manchester United Women defender Maya Le Tissier has been named in the senior England squad for the first time.
Le Tissier has enjoyed an impressive start to life at United since joining the Reds from Brighton over the summer and has had her early-season efforts rewarded.
Our no.15 has been selected by manager Sarina Wiegman for the Lionesses’ friendly fixtures against Japan (11 November) and Norway (15 November).
"We have about eight months to get prepared for the World Cup. What we want to see is where our young players are now."

Maya is one of six Reds among the 25-strong squad that the European champions have picked too.
Alessia Russo, Ella Toone, Mary Earps, Nikita Parris and Katie Zelem have also been included, and it means that United have the joint-most players in the squad, alongside Manchester City.
Along with our Lionesses, there are several more Reds who have received call-ups for November’s break.
United forward Martha Thomas and winger Kirsty Hanson, currently on loan at Aston Villa, are part of Scotland’s squad for their friendlies against Panama and Venezuela.
Carrie Jones, Chloe Williams, Hayley Ladd and Safia Middleton-Patel have been called up by Wales, as they take on Finland at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.
Adriana Leon will also travel to Brazil on camp with Canada, while Maria Thorisdottir and Vilde Boe Risa are on Norway’s pre-call list ahead of their matches versus France and England.
