Skinner: We were ruthless at Everton

Manchester United Women's boss Marc Skinner described his side's mentality as 'ruthless' following Sunday's 3-0 victory over Everton in the WSL.

Goals from Nikita Parris, Leah Galton and Hayley Ladd helped to secure all three points which left the Reds sitting top of the table.

With his team still boasting the impressive record of not conceding a league goal this season, Skinner praised his players for consistently showing up with the right attitude each week.

Skinner: A complete team performance

Marc Skinner lauds his squad after United Women defeated Everton 3-0 away on Sunday...

''I am so pleased, the players were magnificent and it's a tough fixture to play at the end of a three game-week," began Skinner, following the triumph over the Toffees.

"Everton have progressed massively this season as Brian [Sorensen] and his staff are doing a fantastic job.

''It was a really tough one as they kept the ball and we had to be compact at times and precise but I felt we could have created more opportunities to score even more goals. I thought in that second half we were ruthless.''

With the hosts having lost just one of their last five outings in all competitions, United were composed in build-up play throughout and carefully carved open the opposition defence on three separate occasions.

After the disappointment of missing out on a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League by just one point last season, Skinner's side have started this campaign in tremendous fashion.

With both Chelsea and Arsenal to come in our next two fixtures, the boss insisted games of that calibre are exactly what his team needs in the continuing quest to break through barriers.

''That is what we are here for,'' responded Skinner, when asked about the tough tests to come.

''That is not taking anything lightly and we want to pitch ourselves against the best teams that are, historically, the best in the country.

''We aspire to be there and we need to plan and prepare and make sure everyone is fresh and ready go into those games. We know how difficult they are going to be, but we are looking forward to them.''
