United Women reflect on 2021/22 campaign

Saturday 21 May 2022 07:00

Manchester United Women’s players have been reflecting on the campaign in the aftermath of our season-closer away to Chelsea.

The team narrowly missed out on a first-ever Champions League berth on the final day of the WSL season earlier this month, registering a fourth-place finish.

Off the back of our final game of 2021/22, the Reds are now enjoying some well-earned time off to recover and recharge for the new campaign.

Before then, several of our players are likely to be involved in fixtures for their nations, particularly during this summer’s European Championship in England.

So, with attentions now turning away from club football for the time being, the squad have been looking back on the campaign via social media, while saying their thanks to our loyal supporters and previewing our return to action in the coming months.

On her official Twitter account, Ella Toone said: “What a journey it’s been. The highs, the lows.

“Loved every minute of playing for this club and team.

“We’ll be back hungrier than ever. GGMU.”

Captain Katie Zelem, who along with Toone was named in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2022 earlier this week, expressed her pride in the effort the team gave and thanked our fans for the unwavering backing.

“Another season comes to an end - a rollercoaster of highs and lows but we gave it absolutely everything,” Zelem explained.

“Thank you for all the support across the season, we really appreciate it.”
