United sign Melvine Malard on loan

Manchester United Women are delighted to announce the signing of France international Melvine Malard on loan.

The 23-year-old forward joins United from Division 1 Feminine side Lyon, where she has won the UEFA Women’s Champions League four times, in addition to two French top-flight titles.

Malard made her full international debut on 18 September 2020, as France defeated Serbia 2-0.

Earlier that year, Malard was named one of the 10 most promising young players in Europe by UEFA.

The England international makes a return to her childhood club on deadline day.

Malard said: “I am truly very happy to be here, and to join this club and this city. I cannot wait to meet the fans and get started.”

Head coach Marc Skinner added: “Melvine’s honours speak for themselves, and we are delighted to welcome a proven winner at domestic and European level to our Manchester United family.

“Melvine will no doubt excite our fans and bring a fluid attacking quality to our team.”

Head of Women's Football Polly Bancroft said: “Melvine brings to us undeniable Champions League winning experience, which will be valuable for our maiden European season. We are thrilled to secure her signature.”
