Sunday 16 April 2023 15:26

Manchester United will face Chelsea in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday 14 May.

Marc Skinner’s side took on Brighton in the first semi-final on Saturday (15 April), winning 3-2 to progress to our first-ever major final.

The second semi-final unfolded earlier this afternoon, with holders Chelsea travelling to Aston Villa.

On this occasion, it was the reigning champions who came out on top, with Sam Kerr yet again cropping up to score the decisive goal in a hard-fought 1-0 win.

The Reds beat Brighton 3-2 in a tight game at Leigh Sports Village to reach the Women's FA Cup final for the first time.

If ever there’s a time for the Reds to record our first-ever victory over Emma Hayes’s side, an FA Cup final would be the time to do it.

In nine meetings with the Blues, a 1-1 draw at home is the closest we have come to registering a victory against them.

Our most recent encounter earlier this year ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat with Kerr an unsurprising difference-maker once again.
Skinner’s side has shown that we have our own impact players, with Rachel Williams providing an 89th-minute winner from the bench against Brighton yesterday evening.

Leah Galton and Alessia Russo also found the net for the Reds, while Brighton scored through Mary Earps’s early own-goal and Danielle Carter’s composed finish.
Our inaugural trip to Wembley will pose the first chance for us to add a major honour to our name, and our second piece of silverware since winning the Championship title in the 2018/19 season.

If you want to be with us in the capital to cheer on the Reds, tickets are now on sale
