Two fixture changes for United Women

Tuesday 19 January 2021 16:00

Manchester United Women’s WSL fixture against Everton has been rearranged for Sunday 31 January.

The game was originally supposed to take place on 10 January, but was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Toffees camp.

The fixture will now be played on the final day of the month at 14:30 GMT, and will be shown live on BT Sport in the UK.

The last weekend of January had originally been reserved for Women’s FA Cup matches, but following the recent announcement that the competition is temporarily on hold, it opens a free spot for the Reds’ game to be rearranged.

Elsewhere, the time of our first match in February - against Reading on 7 February - has been slightly altered.

Casey Stoney’s side will now face the Royals at 12:30 GMT, half an hour later than originally scheduled, and the match at Leigh Sports Village will be broadcast live in the UK on the BBC’s red button service.

United came away with all three points the last time we faced Reading, just over a month ago, courtesy of a late Haylee Ladd goal.
As for Everton, Willie Kirk’s side have impressed this term and are currently fifth in the WSL table. During our most recent meeting, it was the Toffees who emerged with a 1-0 victory, despite United enjoying long spells on top during December’s Continental League Cup tie.

Casey will be hoping United can bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Chelsea when we host Birmingham City on Sunday, ahead of the Everton and Reading encounters.

That loss to the Blues was our first in the league this season and leaves United second in the table, having picked up 26 points from our 11 WSL matches this term.
