United Foundation Choir takes part in city memorial service

Tuesday 22 May 2018 14:45

Manchester United Foundation Youth Choir is joining forces with a City in the Community choir this evening (Tuesday) for a performance in Albert Square, as part of the Manchester Together memorial event.

A year on from the atrocity at the Manchester Arena in the city centre, tributes are being paid to those who lost their lives while attending an Ariana Grande concert.

The two choirs representing Manchester United and Manchester City will open the event at 19:00 BST, before joining a mass choir of thousands of local singers, culminating in a communal singalong between 20:30 and 21:00 BST.

The songs for the finale have been confirmed as One Last Time by Ariana Grande, Elbow's One Day Like This, Don’t Look Back in Anger by Oasis and Never Forget by Take That.

Marcus Rashford says

"Nobody will ever forget what happened but the way Manchester pulled together shows you everything you need to know about the people here. It made me so proud to be a Mancunian."

Also among the participating choirs are Manchester Survivors Choir, a group made up of people who were at the Arena on the night of the attack, Parrs Wood High School’s Harmony Group, whose post-attack tribute went viral last year, and Bee Vocal, the Manchester mental health choir, comprising people who have experienced mental health issues and have come together to share the healing power of music.
