United to honour legend Denis Law
Manchester United is honouring the memory of our iconic former striker Denis Law, following the sad news of his death at the age of 84.
Affectionately known as “The King”, Denis scored 237 goals in 404 appearances during 11 years with the Reds, placing him only behind Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton in the club’s all-time top goalscorers.
Law has two statutes at Old Trafford, including the United Trinity statue on the Old Trafford forecourt alongside George Best and Sir Bobby. Beneath the statute, United chief executive officer Omar Berrada laid a wreath on Saturday morning on behalf of the club.

Fans have also been leaving scarves, flowers and messages of their own to the Aberdeen-born Ballon d’Or winner.
A book of condolence has been opened for fans to pay their respects to Law and his incredible legacy. Supporters can find it within the East Stand reception, which is open until 7pm today (Saturday).
Tributes to Law will be paid before Sunday’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
A wreath will be laid before kick-off, followed by a minute’s applause. Our players and staff will also wear black armbands.

Our women’s team will also wear black armbands during their match against one of Law’s former clubs, Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
Our Under-18s paid the same respect during the second half of Friday night’s FA Youth Cup match against Preston North End at Leigh Sports Village, and our Under-21s will also do the same during their Premier League 2 game against Aston Villa at Carrington on Saturday afternoon.
Tributes have also been pouring in from across the football family, with United legends Eric Cantona, Paddy Crerand and Alex Stepney among those to reflect on the news of Law’s passing with sadness and respect.
