United launch adidas Originals range
We’re proud to announce the adidas Originals range, inspired by the iconic apparel that the club wore during the 1990s.
Discussing the collection, a member of the adidas team said: “We wanted to perfectly capture the essence of the early '90s. We delved deep into our archives and drew a lot of inspiration from magazine sales catalogues from those years and their unique aesthetic and vibe.
“Our partnership with the club goes back a long way, so we wanted to take the opportunity to really reflect on some of that history and bring a small piece of the heritage to the modern day with a retro collection that celebrates the relationship and culture that surrounds it.”
Kicking things off is the stunning Manchester United Red Retro Jersey. This jersey is a real blast from the past, with a vintage United club crest on the chest, as well as the original adidas Trefoil that sits on the opposite side.
It’s made entirely from recycled Prime Green polyester and features iconic adidas branding on the shoulders, and a jacquard pattern on the jersey itself is the perfect finishing touch to pay homage to such a historic shirt. It offers a regular fit and is signed off with elasticated trimmings on the sleeves.
Next up is the French Terry Crewneck. This long-sleeve silhouette is made from a luxurious, super-soft French Terry cotton, which provides a seriously comfortable fit.
On the front sits the iconic adidas Trefoil logo, as well as retro-inspired club and brand crests on each arm, finished off nicely with subtle red piping. Elasticated trimmings ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
It’s also paired nicely with a pair of shorts, which are a regular 8” inseam, an adjustable waist, as well as two side pockets. Retro crests on each leg seal the deal in style.
Featuring adidas' Trefoil branding throughout, the tracktop boasts timeless adidas panelling, as well as the vintage United club crest, which is doubled up with a retro adidas logo, too.
The bottoms utilise an adjustable, elasticated waist to allow for a comfortable and adjustable fit, as well as two zipped side pockets and elasticated ankle cuffs.
The jacket also features elasticated trimmings, as well as a full zip closure, two side zip pockets and retro-inspired adidas and United branding throughout.
The Retro Graphic Tee arrives in both black and white and features a playful screen-printed graphic that is directly inspired by an archival jumper from 1988.
The graphic pictures a baby Fred the Red sat on Man United lettering. It’s constructed from a premium 180g cotton and offers a regular, comfortable fit.
It’s available in both black and white, as well as in a crewneck version.
Moving on, allow us to introduce the Goalie Jersey. Inspired by the shirt worn during the 1991/92 season, some of you may be familiar with it. After all, it is pretty iconic.
It’s made up of adidas’ Prime Green polyester, which is a sustainable material that provides unrivalled comfort. With the unmistakable, eye-catching pattern throughout, there’s no wonder why this shirt has become a cult classic.
Elasticated trimmings, the original Sharp logo and vintage adidas and club crests throw it back in style. We’re glad to welcome it back!
Last but certainly not least is the Old Trafford Trefoil Tee, which pays homage to the vintage apparel that we produced with adidas back in the 1990s. Available in both black and white, this short-sleeve T-shirt is constructed from premium cotton, which offers a cosy and comfortable fit.
A screen-printed adidas trefoil logo is accompanied by Old Trafford lettering, acting as a nod to the Theatre of Dreams and our illustrious history with the brand with the three stripes.
