Double injury boost before Newcastle game

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have been boosted by the presence of Alex Telles and Scott McTominay during Monday's training session.

Telles has been out since picking up an ankle injury in pre-season, after appearing in the friendly victory over Derby County in July.

However, the Brazil international has been making good progress in his rehabilitation and was spotted by our photographers at Carrington looking in a very positive frame of mind.

Scott McTominay was snapped by our official photographers.

Another player featuring in our exclusive shots is Scott McTominay, even though he only underwent a groin operation recently.

The midfielder missed the win at Wolves as a result of the surgery but he pledged to be back sooner than fans would think and it was another major plus to see him out on the grass as the squad prepares for Saturday's visit of Newcastle United.

It remains to be seen whether the pair will be available for that match but the manager will provide an update later in the week.

Dean Henderson and Teden Mengi were also involved as they work back to full fitness, along with South American duo Fred and Edinson Cavani.

Youngsters present included Tunisia international Hannibal and Spanish full-back Alvaro Fernandez.

There is no Cristiano Ronaldo yet, following his arrival from Portugal, in the wake of breaking the men's international goals record with two late headers in the dramatic win over Republic of Ireland.

Of course, a number of Reds remain on duty with their respective countries but Jadon Sancho returned from the England camp early due to a minor injury.

All the international players will be expected back in Manchester in time to prepare for Saturday's 15:00 BST kick-off against the Magpies at Old Trafford.
