Three Manchester United players have been selected by Gareth Southgate for England’s October internationals.

Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Jadon Sancho have all been named in the 25-man squad for the coming month’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.

The trio, who were also part of the squad for the recent September camp, are due to join up with the Three Lions following our Premier League match against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Shaw’s inclusion comes after he was forced off during last weekend's game against Aston Villa.

Our no.23 subsequently missed our victory over Villarreal in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggesting beforehand that our the full-back had a small chance to make the bench.

"I think Luke’s was more of an illness than anything else," commented Gareth Southgate at a press conference. "That was our understanding."

Sancho also returns to the England squad, having had to withdraw from the September group after picking up an injury in training at St George’s Park.

Completing the trio is Lingard, having netted twice for United in the Premier League this month, off the back of his brace for the Three Lions against Andorra, during the most recent international break.

All three will be hoping to play a part in matches away at Andorra (9 October) and at home to Hungary (12 October) for the Group I leaders, who can secure their spot at next year’s World Cup in Qatar over the coming break.

The only United player to have been called up for the September squad but not this time around is Harry Maguire.

Like Shaw, the Reds skipper pulled up during last weekend’s meeting with Aston Villa and has since been sidelined for a few weeks with a calf problem, according to Solskjaer.

Maguire looks set to spend this international break at Carrington with a view to returning full fitness, as will Marcus Rashford, who has recently returned to training following his shoulder operation upon the conclusion of this summer's European Championship.

This month’s games may have come too soon for our no.10 to return to the England squad, but the forward could potentially have his sights set on getting back in for the November internationals, should he get some minutes under his belt for United upon the return of club football in October.

Meanwhile, England coach Southgate suggested Mason Greenwood and Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham have not been included due to a concern over an overload of matches at a young age.
