Manchester United Women manager Marc Skinner has been awarded his UEFA Pro Licence.

The 42-year-old, who has led the Reds to three consecutive Women's Adobe FA Cup finals, completed the course alongside some notable names from the footballing world.

Jack Wilshere, Darius Vassell and Gareth Ainsworth are among the latest cohort with the awards ceremony taking place last week.

The 18-month programme saw 25 new names awarded the accolade, with Stockport County manager Dave Challinor also picking up his certificate.

Skinner spoke to England Learning after the ceremony, expressing his pride and also adding praise for the way he was able to learn new skills.

“I have found the Pro Diploma an enlightening experience," began the United Women boss.

"I’ve learnt so much from the fantastic coaches in the cohort but also understand who I am and the modules in the course have empowered me to project that forwards and follow my inner voice and that’s a really powerful message.

"I feel privileged to be part of this amazing cohort and share the brains of so many fantastic leaders, coaches, sporting directors. They’ll all leave a lasting impression on my life.”

Among those to have spoken to the group were former England head coach Gareth Southgate, as well as Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman.

Modules within the programme focused on developing winning leadership and management strategies that learners can take back into their coaching environments across the Premier League, Football League, Barclays Women’s Super League, Barclays Women’s Championship and the international game.

A proud day for Marc!

"It is our aim to support top-level coaches in a way that helps them understand what it takes to win," added UEFA Pro Diploma Lead Guy Whittingham, the former Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday striker.

"We look to educate and influence them with the skills and knowledge to be successful in the game, both now and in the future.

"This cohort has been fantastic and we’re looking forward to seeing them continue to develop outside the programme.”

Congratulations Marc from everyone involved at the club!
