Skinner's team news for Leicester clash

Thursday 02 March 2023 15:30

Manchester United Women manager Marc Skinner has issued an update on his squad, ahead of this weekend’s Women’s Super League clash with Leicester City.

The Reds go into Sunday afternoon's game at Leigh Sports Village as the league leaders and Skinner is set to have all bar one of his players available to him as we go in search of three points.

In his pre-match press conference, the boss told reporters that the only squad member ruled out is January arrival Jayde Riviere.

Riviere joined the Reds in the winter transfer window as she was working her way back from injury, and although the Canadian is sidelined this weekend, fans could see her in action by the end of the month if all goes according to plan.

The full-back's absence means that fellow new arrival Lisa Naalsund could be in with the chance of making her United debut against the Foxes.

“Right now, everyone bar Jayde Riviere is in contention, even Lisa [Naalsund],” Skinner told the media.

“Lisa is training fully with the team this week, so everybody is available barring Jayde, who is probably around three weeks away [from being able to play].”
Skinner and his squad are ready for a critical month in the race for the WSL title, beginning with a game against relegation-threatened Leicester.

But despite the significance of every game, he insists the players are ‘focused and relaxed’ heading into the business end of the season, saying: “We don’t look beyond Leicester, [they are] our only focus.

“We know the dangers they possess, so for us, we are fully focused and we know that if we perform, on our day we can beat any team in this country.”
