Marc Skinner believes Manchester United Women are ready to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Reds are yet to register a win against the current WSL champions but the manager believes his side has what it takes to come out on top this time.

Skinner spoke to the press about Chelsea’s threat, Sam Kerr's absence from their ranks, United's mindset and how our injured players are getting along.

Press conference | Marc Skinner on Sam Kerr's injury and more, as we prepare to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge...

WE WISH SAM KERR ALL THE BEST

"The ability Chelsea have to rotate is obvious. Emma [Hayes] has said herself that Aggie Beaver-Jones is playing well, Lauren James, Fran... they have an amazing amount of depth.

"Everyone knows how good they are and how good Sam is. We wish her all the very best with her recovery. It’s horrible to see anyone out with that [injury], let alone a player of her quality.

"We are preparing a little bit differently of course. I think Chelsea have many solutions they are able to find, we have to be prepared for all situations."

IT'S NOT AN EASY TASK

"The reality is that we cannot forget what it takes to beat Chelsea and at their home ground and we know we have to do that. All the things we can manage are our attitude, the way we play, the commitment for the way we play.

"There are not many who go to Chelsea and win but that is our aim, of course it is. It’s not an easy task. We have a lot of work to do, I believe in the group to do that.

"We are going to need a bit of luck, but I want to go in there with the right headspace and the right mindset. If we defend well and attack the way we can, then we can win. We will give it everything."

United narrowly lost to Chelsea in the Vitality FA Cup final last season.

AOIFE IS GETTING CLOSER

"Lisa [Naalsund] has hopefully recovered from that niggle last week, she has a few more training sessions. Everyone else is available barring the long-term injuries.

"Aoife [Mannion] is getting closer to a return, she trained fully with the team this week. Hopefully we can get her some minutes soon."

Aoife Mannion's recovery is going well.

PRESSURE IS PART OF THE JOB

"There is pressure every day at Manchester United and it’s about how you deal with that. From my perspective, it’s about making sure my team is prepared.

"The reality is that when we look at squad depth, we need to continue and invest to compete with Chelsea over a lot of competitions and we are doing a very good job so far.

"Pressure is part of this job. It’s just about feeling the pressure and putting it in a way that our players can go and thrive.

"We are seven points [off the top of the table] now but it might be different after Sunday, in fact I am pretty sure it will be."
