Marc Skinner: We don't fear anyone

Tuesday 17 October 2023 10:54

Marc Skinner says that his team don’t fear anyone, as we prepare for our UEFA Women's Champions League round-two second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

After a 1-1 draw in the first meeting, at Leigh Sports Village on 10 October, United travel to the Parc des Princes aiming to secure a place in the group stage of the competition.

Skinner spoke to the press ahead of the match on Wednesday, and you can read the key quotes from that media briefing below.

PLAYING AT THE PARC DES PRINCES

"What I feel is that we have the experience to go into big stadiums and big games.

"We have the ability to adapt and evolve in the game. It is going to be an exciting game because Paris Saint-Germain are going to attack us and we know that.

"We have to make sure that we repel that and we have to be on point when we are attacking.

"I trust and believe in us that we are going into this game knowing that we have to win so we are going to go and win.

"I don’t think this team fears anyone, that’s the beauty of this team. We excel in situations that we should fear and that’s what makes us great."

DEFENDING AGAINST PSG

"I think it’s all about our team defending. Our individuals have to be switched on. PSG have such an ability to go behind your backline.

"Their one-on-one ability is outstanding. The first half of the first game, we didn’t get up to speed quick enough.

"In the second half, we put a really solid performance in. We have an experience of that and how PSG play. We have to go in and defend as a team.

"We have to concentrate as individuals because they will create chances but also we need to use our chances as much as we can."

GOING INTO THE TIE WITH CONFIDENCE

"I would say that we feel that we are very confident in our ability. I think if you go in thinking you’re favourites or being favourites then you adapt and play slightly differently.

"Our players are very good and aware of their capabilities and they should.

"We are going to go into this game against a very difficult team knowing that we can win the game but we will not put ourselves in the ‘favourite’ mindset. I think that can make you complacent.

"We are going to go in and give it everything to progress. We are going in confident."

Manchester United’s game against PSG will be shown live on MUTV in the UK and Ireland.
