Marc Skinner: We are history makers
Marc Skinner praised his team of history makers after beating Brann 3-1 on aggregate to progress to the main stage of the Women's Champions League for the first time in the club's history.
"I said to the players at the end, we've got to go in there and not just make up the numbers, we have to go and really be excited by the opportunity to play against Europe's best teams. If you want to be there, you've got to perform against them.
"I hope that the teams that get us, they see that actually they didn't really want to play Manchester United. But in all honesty, whoever we get, we will absolutely try and maximise those games that we get."
When is the Women's Champions League draw?
ArticleUnited are in the competition's main phase for the first time after Thursday's win against Brann.
United headed into the game trailing our opponents 1-0 on aggregate but flipped the tie on its head thanks to an Elisabeth Terland hat-trick, and Skinner was full of praise for our striker. "I'm really proud of her tonight, because she grew in a psychological situation, and I think those goals just show the quality of player she is.
"I think she's one of the best finishers I've ever worked with. She's so intelligent in the box, she wants to work, she wants to find little angles, she's always thinking."
The boss also gave an update on Celin Bizet Donnum who was left out of tonight's squad and Jayde Riviere who went off injured, confirming that he hoped both would be fit to play against Arsenal on Sunday.
We will find out our next opponents in the Champions League in tomorrow (Friday)'s draw.
