Marc Skinner says that Manchester United Women’s last-gasp win over WSL title rivals Arsenal is exactly why he got into football management.

The Reds trailed 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium with five minutes of normal time to go, after Ella Toone’s first-half opener had been turned on its head by goals from Frida Maanum and Laura Wienroither in the second period.

But after a header from Millie Turner levelled the score, Alessia Russo clinched a dramatic three points for Skinner’s side in injury time, prompting wild celebrations from the United bench and among the travelling supporters.

Head coach Marc Skinner joins MUTV's Mollie Kmita to reflect on an epic win for United Women at the Emirates...

“It’s one of those moments [where] you lose yourself for a second,” Skinner said to MUTV following the crucial victory.

“I actually think I invented dance moves, but you lose your moment.

“There are so many lows in this game, but the highs are [amazing]. That moment, I want to remember it forever.”

While the Reds left it late to take three points from the capital and inflict Arsenal’s first defeat of the season, Skinner revealed that he never believed his side were going to lose.

“That is exactly why we do this job; it was a rollercoaster of emotions,” he said.

“We were behind, [then] we were leading, [then] we were behind.

Marc Skinner's Reds come from behind to beat the table-topping Gunners in a thriller at the Emirates Stadium.

“We came back, and I asked them tonight to show personality. The game management from the players on the pitch tonight was unbelievable.

“I never felt tonight that they looked like they wanted to collapse their mentality. They went after the game and actually when they went a goal behind, I thought we were the better team. An unbelievable performance.”
