Skinner signs new contract with United Women
Marc Skinner has signed a new contract with Manchester United to remain as head coach of the club’s women’s first team until June 2027, with the option of an extra year.
Since his appointment in 2021, Skinner has led United to the club’s first major honour in women’s football with the 2024 FA Cup, after finishing runners-up the prior season. His team also achieved a second-placed finish in the 2022-23 Women’s Super League, securing a place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time.
Skinner is currently overseeing another strong season with the team placed third in the WSL, with the best defensive record in the league, and an FA Cup semi-final to come. In 119 games as head coach, he has a win ratio of almost 65 per cent.
Marc Skinner said: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve as head coach for this fantastic football club for the past four years, and I am delighted to be extending my time in the role for at least a further two years.
“We are building a young, hungry team with the aim of challenging consistently for further trophies. There is still more hard work ahead, including this season, but the players and staff have already shown their determination to succeed, and I am looking forward to us taking the next steps in our journey together."
