Skinner's update on George and Turner

Manchester United Women head into Sunday's WSL clash with Aston Villa in a positive mood, despite a rare defeat last time out.

The 16:30 GMT kick-off at Villa Park represents a chance to bounce back from last Friday's loss to Liverpool.

And the good news is the squad is in great health in advance of the trip to the Midlands, with Gabby George the only slight doubt.

Furthermore, the announcement of a new contract for Millie Turner has also added to the feelgood factor around Carrington in the build-up to the clash.

"So I'm expecting everyone to train today," Skinner said at his press conference to preview the fixture. "We've got everyone up for selection, which is positive.

"Gabby obviously had to come off and it's a foot injury but she seems to have been okay. So she will train today. If there was a doubt, it would only be that, but, as I say, she trained and hopefully comes through that full training so, hopefully, I'll have a full squad to pick from."

Meanwhile, Turner's new deal has come with a challenge from her manager, despite his delight at the news.

"She's one of the originals, right?" Skinner said about the experienced defender. "She has a steep history in Manchester United, one of the kids who came through the Academy.

"I'm so excited again but I'm also a realist, in terms of I've challenged Millie. I want Millie to be better. As incredible as she is, she can be a real leading light for our team in many moments.

"I want her to be even better. Her next challenge is to win things with Manchester United and try to get a place in an England team. She's got work to do in order to do that, on a consistency basis, but I'm so grateful to she's part of her team and a big part. I put her in the leadership group this season to show her growth and how important she is."

Meanwhile, the home side on Sunday have been boosted by the availability of former Red Lucy Staniforth. However, Noelle Maritz is out through suspension.

Villa boss Natalia Arroyo said: "We have Lucy Staniforth with us. She was training with us and she will be part of the squad. The others are okay, they are fit."
