Rashford: Our desire and ambition never changes

Wednesday 10 November 2021 11:26

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford says the Reds’ drive to succeed will never waver, despite our recent challenges on the pitch.

Rashford and co have suffered defeats to Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City since the last international break, but going into this one, our no.10 has expressed his desire to give his all in helping us get back to winning ways when club football returns later this month.

Marcus was speaking having been presented with his MBE by Prince William during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, as a result of his work in the fight against child food poverty.

The forward had to withdraw from the England squad earlier this week to concentrate on regaining full fitness and he is now determined to help give his all for the Reds upon our return to action.

As an Academy graduate and a boyhood Red, Marcus is no stranger to the pressure and the expectation that comes with representing Manchester United and he says that he and his team-mates will never shy away from that.

Our no.10 insists every single member of the group is determined to help the club tap back into a winning vein of form, in the games ahead.

“The Man United team is the Man United team, and we all play for the badge and the club, something for me I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid,” Marcus said.

“And for the players that we sign, they see Manchester United as the great club it is and they want to give everything they can for the badge.

“And those things remain the same whether you’re in good spells or bad spells," he added.

“I know at the moment we’re in a difficult patch, but the desire and ambition never changes.”

Next up for United following the ongoing November international break is a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford in the Premier League on Saturday 20 November (kick-off 15:00 GMT).

It is unknown as yet whether Marcus will be available for that match against the Hornets, but there is no doubt our forward will be working as hard as he can behind the scenes over the break to be ready to help the team again, as we prepare to enter the busy winter period of the campaign.
