Positive signs for Rashford at Aon Training Complex

Friday 22 May 2020 16:49

That Friday feeling may have been scarce in recent months, but positivity was in abundance at the Aon Training Complex today as the players continue their gradual return to training, illustrated by these exclusive images captured earlier.

As you can see in the gallery below – taken from a safe distance, of course – Marcus Rashford continues to step up his rehabilitation from a back injury that forced him to miss the last 13 matches across all competitions.

Take a look at the pictures...

WORKING HARD TO RETURN

The lifelong United fan and proud Academy graduate is the club’s top scorer for the season so far with 19 goals to his name, six more than his previous career-best tally of 13.

Rashford’s back injury had looked set to prevent him from contributing further as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds fought for success in the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and Europa League.

However, in a roundabout way, the postponement of football might yet allow him to feature more prominently in the campaign’s conclusion – although that is obviously down to the club’s medical staff, who have expertly guided him through his recovery during the lockdown period.

STEPPING ON IT

Speaking earlier this month, as part of our Ask Man Utd series, Marcus discussed the challenge of being injured and explained he had been working harder than ever on his rehab while at home.

“I have just been working, you know, I have sort of had my head down,” he told us. “It has been a tough period for me, the last few months, obviously being injured, but in the last few weeks I have been able to step on it a bit more, so I have just been getting my head down and working.”

Rashford has currently made 201 United appearances and his comeback outing would move him into 99th position on the club's all-time list, above former Scotland international Gordon Strachan.

Who is next on the list? That would be his great friend Jesse Lingard, who has 202 matches to his name.

United's 2019/20 training kits are still available to order via United Direct.
