Rashford: We can all be proud of ourselves

Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United can take pride from a stellar display against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The Englishman scored a brace to help Erik ten Hag's side secure a fourth win on the bounce, against top-of-the-table Arsenal.

"The fact they've had such a good start to the season meant it was a big test for us today," said Rashford, in a post-match interview.

"We showed up and we stood up to the challenge. We can all be proud of ourselves today."

Our double goalscorer was full of praise for the visitors, who made it tough for us on our own turf.

"They're a good team, they know the principles of play and they're very good at it," said Rashford.

"They're a good possession-based team, they offer a lot of difficulties with players dropping deep in the pockets and have some attacking threat so it was a difficult game and it's what we expected so we [had] to be up for the challenge."
But despite how well Arsenal played, it was United who walked away with all three points. Rashford noted a particular tactic as a catalyst for the win.

"In the second half we managed to exploit spaces and that's what made the difference," he explained.

"We had to try and look for that a little bit more in the first half but we're pleased that it came in the second half and we could do good things with the space that we [saw]."

Marcus also highlighted Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen, who combined well to help create the crucial goals.

"When you've got players like that [Fernandes and Eriksen] on the ball it's important to make runs and give them options and we managed to do that today."

Double-goalscorer Marcus Rashford believes United are progressing under Erik ten Hag…

Although we were on the scoresheet three times today - the most this season so far - our number 10 is calling for us to be more ruthless.

"I think we've shown in the last few games being 1-0 up that we can see a game out but we had to be more ruthless, get more goals."

Rashford continued: "We got two more goals in the second half and we could've had a couple more.

"It's definitely something to work on, something to build on, and we're looking forward to the next game."
